In this article, the authors examine in detail the sphere of insolvency and conclude that, firstly,
it is a complex and specific legal institution, and, secondly, it is an important, integral part
of modern market relations. These circumstances determine the demand for participation in
the bankruptcy sphere of specialists with high professional skills and qualities, and the need to
develop and implement programs in the educational process that are characterized not only by
a solid theoretical base, but also by a practical orientation. The latter is a very urgent problem
for a number of legal areas, and the lack of quality proposals for its solution forces one to turn
to both foreign and pre-revolutionary experience, which can rightfully be considered exemplary
and indicative. Thus, the authors come to the conclusion that it is precisely the “application of
law to cases” that was touched upon by Dmitry Ivanovich Meyer in the monograph “On the
Importance of Practice in the System of Modern Legal Education”, which becomes the method
and way of teaching that we should focus on in training specialists.

Keywords: insolvency; bankruptcy; education; master’s program; practical jurisprudence;
method of cases (specific situations).
