Submission of documents in electronic form is not a new phenomenon for the Russian judicial system: the service «My arbitrator» [Moi Arbitr] for submission of documents electronically in arbitration courts is successfully operating since 2011. It allows to submit a claim and other documents by filling forms on the official website of the arbitration court. However, on December 27, 2016 the Order fixing a new, previously non-existent phenomenon – submission of documents in electronic form to courts of general jurisdiction – was accepted. Right after that, on December 28, 2016, there were changes for the system of arbitration courts, too. And also on November 29, 2016 the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation issued the Order of submission of documents in electronic form to the Supreme Court. All this documents were entered into force from January 1, 2017. The article provides an overview of the Order of submission of documents in electronic form, including the form of e-document, to courts of general jurisdiction.
