About Class Actions in the Concept of the Unified Civil Procedure Code of the Russian Federation

The article analyzes the chapter of the Concept of the unified Civil Procedure Code of the Russian Federation devoted to protection of interests of groups of individuals. It deals with questions about the meaning of the institute of class action, interests protected with the help of it, positive and negative aspects of this institution are estimated. In addition, the article analyses characteristics and conditions of presentation of the class action, which were embodied in the Concept. It is concluded that some of them are not compatible with each other. The article raises many other questions concerning the class action model, which proposed in the Concept of the unified Civil Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. As a result, the author concludes that the proposed in the Concept model of the class action needs substantial improvement.
