WILL ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE JUDGE?

The author proposes description of the existing state of affairs abroad, use of modern

information technologies in courts, as well as the analysis of a number of arguments for and

against the granting of artificial intelligence as a judge. Dispute resolution online is becoming

more and more popular, such platforms as Alibaba, eBay, Airbnb, Amazon resolve most

disputes without personal presence and direct discussion of a controversial issue. The use

of the Internet and information technologies involves the appearance of a growing number

of disputes, often involving new technologies themselves. Law firms also try to adapt to the

requirements of the market of services and provide their products in a new way by using

electronic technologies. To live offline is no longer possible, but whether artificial intelligence

becomes the perfect judge, and whether this ideal is significant for man? The article is

devoted to review the field of justice informatization and online dispute resolutions. The

author considers examples from the history of jurisprudence and philosophy as the doctrine

of truth and the discretion of the judge in the interpretation of law. The potential advantages

and disadvantages of using artificial intelligence as a judge are analyzed.
