Reform of the Civil Procedural Legislation of Ukraine: Main Stages and Prospects

The article is devoted to issues of evolution of civil procedure in Ukraine. From 1991 to 2017, several large-scale stages of the reform of the national civil procedural legislation passed. The first Civil Procedure Code was adopted in 2004 in terms of the conceptual changes of common approaches to the administration of justice and the formation of an independent branch of the judiciary. Today on the way of European integration the next stage of a comprehensive transformation of the judicial system and procedural law comes, what is intended to ensure further development and improvement of the order of administration of justice, to implement global and European standards of protection of rights. The article compares projects and the codified acts regulating civil procedural relations in Ukraine, which makes it possible to characterize the process of formation of civil procedural legislation and determine the main directions for its improvement. Discussed today the Law on changes in the Civil Procedure Code in Ukraine is the result of collective work of the Judicial Reform Council, which included well-known scholars and practitioners. The author presents a comparative table for consideration, which shows the structure of projects and codes that operated in Ukraine, and the Civil Procedure Code of 2017, as well as the most significant its changes.
